OVERHEAD, ZWARTE ZAAL 2023
COCOON
Overhead marked Hasan’s first participation in a group exhibition and his first opportunity to create a life-sized sculpture. Using purely organic materials, he crafted Cocoon, a piece that deeply inspired by the seminar he followed during his studies, Wabi-Sabi, Ephemerality, and Decay by artist Benny Nemer.

THE MYSTIC MONK
WATERING THE PLANTS WHILE IT'S RAINING, ZWARTE ZAAL, 2024
The idea for The Mystic Monk emerged after Hasan’s experience with the 2023 earthquake in Turkey. Dreams have always been vivid and intense for him. On the night of the earthquake, he had the most striking dream he could remember. One in which he was in his hometown, witnessing buildings collapse. This profound experience led him to explore the unknown realm of dreams and deepened his connection, after discovering the theories of Carl Gustav Jung. Hasan believes that humans are deeply interconnected—not only with each other but also with the land they inhabit. He still cannot say for certain whether he dreamt of the catastrophe as it happened or if, in that moment, he sensed his mother desparately trying to reach out to him. What remains clear, however, is the significance of these invisible threads that bind us. The energy that we all carry.
The Mystic Monk serves as a shrine, an invitation for viewers to reflect on their own consciousness. Through the Sphere—a vision from the mind of the Monk—visitors are welcomed by crystallized, frozen sap from peaches that Hasan personally collected. This delicate presence invites introspection, reminding us that only by looking inward can we truly understand the world around us.
